Major Crackdown by Nandura Police: Banned Gutkha and Vehicle Worth ₹20 Lakh Seized

Nandura, Maharashtra June 29, 2025 | Tamsil Shahezad Khan - In a significant action against the illegal trade of banned gutkha, Nandura Police, under the leadership of newly appointed Police Inspector Jaywant Satav, have seized gutkha and a vehicle worth over ₹20 lakh. Acting on a tip-off, the raid was carried out on June 28 at a tin-sheeted warehouse located in the Purnai Nagar area on Jalgaon Jamod Road in Nandura.

According to police reports, large quantities of flavored gutkha—banned by the Maharashtra government for being hazardous to health—were found stocked inside the warehouse and a Mahindra Bolero pickup truck (registration no. MH48AY3421). The seized material includes gutkha worth ₹12,26,277 and a vehicle valued around ₹8 lakh, totaling a seizure worth ₹20,26,277.

A case has been registered at the Nandura Police Station against the warehouse owner, Vishal Vinod Jain, and the owner-driver of the pickup truck. The investigation to identify and apprehend other individuals involved is currently underway.

This operation was executed under the guidance of Buldhana District Superintendent of Police Nilesh Tambe, Additional SP S. Lodha (Khamgaon), and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sudhir Patil. The raiding team was led by PSI Deepak Solanke and included SI Milind Janjal, Kailas Suradkar, Vinayak Mankar, Rahul Sasane, Vinod Bhojne, Pankaj Vavge, Ravi Sawale, and Sunil Sapkal.

Inspector Jaywant Satav has made it clear that such strict action against illegal gutkha trade will continue. The crackdown has been widely welcomed by the local community, who praised the police for their decisive action.
