Cockroach Janta Party Protest Draws Attention as Security Tightened Across Delhi

New Delhi, June 6, 2026: Security arrangements were intensified across the national capital on Saturday ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a satirical digital movement founded by Abhijeet Dipke. The protest, scheduled at Jantar Mantar, seeks the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination-related lapses.

More than 1,000 Delhi Police personnel were deployed at key locations, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, border entry points, major intersections, marketplaces, and sensitive areas across the city. Barricades were also installed at several locations to maintain law and order.

Abhijeet Dipke, who arrived in Delhi from Boston on Saturday morning, expressed optimism about the gathering. In a social media post, he said he was looking forward to meeting supporters at Jantar Mantar and urged participants to carry books and the national flag. He emphasized that the movement should be conducted with “love and peace.”

The protest has gained significant attention among young people, with the Cockroach Janta Party rapidly growing its online presence in recent months. The movement has attracted support from students and youth who have voiced concerns over education-related issues.

Earlier, climate activist and education reform advocate Sonam Wangchuk stated that he would join the protest if the Education Minister did not resign by June 5.

A point of confusion emerged regarding official permission for the demonstration. Delhi Police initially stated that no formal request for permission had been received from the organization. However, later in the morning, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das claimed on social media that police had granted permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar.

Speaking ahead of the event, CJP representatives described the day as potentially significant for Indian politics. Supporters and associates of Dipke also called for the protest to remain peaceful and urged authorities to cooperate with demonstrators.

Police officials said they are closely monitoring developments and have made extensive security arrangements to ensure public safety. Authorities remain on alert as participants gather at Jantar Mantar for the demonstration.

The protest marks the latest chapter in the rapid rise of the Cockroach Janta Party, a movement that began as an online satire but has evolved into a platform highlighting concerns of many young Indians. The outcome of Saturday’s demonstration could determine whether the group remains a social media phenomenon or emerges as a more influential voice in public discourse.
